Me when I was a kid reading about my sun sign for the first time: Wow! Pisces traits are creativity, intuition, and wisdom! And I’m a Pisces! So it seems that Pisces are pretty cool!

Words to use instead of ‘said’

**Using the word ‘said’ is absolutely not a bad choice, and in fact, you will want to use it for at least 40% of all your dialogue tags. Using other words can be great, especially for description and showing emotion, but used in excess can take away or distract from the story.

Everyone’s so upset about what’s going on on my normal and functional space ship.

image

Excellent you can join ranks with that one doctor who this story made late for surgery

#same#started reading suddenly it was 5 fucking am

Read about my normal and functional spaceship to absolutely destroy your sleep schedule

This happened to me with their (now finished) serial novel Curse Words, and then their (currently unfinished) story Charlie MacNamara, Galactic Ace when I caught up to Curse Words while it was still in progress.

Simply put, it’s just a thing that happens when it comes to reading Derin’s stories.

I’ve been reliably informed by many, many readers that these stories are specifically crack for ADHD people who usually have difficulty reading and I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. That’s such a random demographic.

image

Look it happens

#cannot start reading it is already Late

Do you have to do surgery tomorrow? No? Then how bad could it be to start reading.

#me watching horror movies: noooo why would you open the door covered in warnings not to do that!#me reading thos blog post: I should start reading time to orbit

You should do it, nothing will go wrong. You are the master of your sleep schedule and will get plenty of rest. It’ll be fine.

#I am one sentence in and my suspected adhd brain started to fucking. VIBRATE#what the FUCK#I am so happy and am going to get a normal amount of sleep tonight

Ahaha yes another one

Join the ADHD Reader Army

Congratulations, you did invent time travel after all! Unfortunately, instead of the Soviet moon conspiracy thing, all it’s good for is warping your readers several hours into the future.

… I’ll take it.

#why is it always 3:30 when I spot this post

Because that’s the ideal time to start reading the story

Congratulations for creating an infohazard for ADHD people specifically

#i’m at work and it’s 9am#I should totally read this instead of work right?#what’s the worst that could happen?

Yes you should

Op I would like you to know the only reason I stopped reading was because loud ass fireworks went off

That was Thor trying to save you

#this post#its a trap you guys#i work overnight i needed to be sleep HOURS ago#but noooo#im fucking STUCK in the best way#i havent devoured a book this fast since i was a wee child full of trauma and escapism and free time#in a good way#im crying

Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who don’t or can’t write the 50k fan-fictions, because of a lack of focus or motivation, or mental illness.

Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who don’t or can’t write smut, but are still lumped into a group that is almost expected to write smut.

Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who can’t update chapters frequently for maybe a multitude of reasons, and get messages daily from people asking for “their” new chapter.

Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who aren’t big name fans and hardly get ten kudos or one comment on their fan-fictions.

Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who stay up all night editing and rewriting and don’t get much attention on their work no matter how much they feel like they promote their writing.

Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who don’t write a lot and are constantly asked to write more but can’t for whatever valid reason they have.

Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who have the courage to post their writing online and only have it publicly made fun of for grammar or poor characterization.

Shout-out to fan-fiction writers for writing their fan-fiction, posting it online, and continuing to do it no matter how much or little attention they get, and constantly improving as a writer with every upload.

You all rock.

If you’re a creator and you needed to hear this today:

mypoorfaves:

You have no idea how many people lurk on your work. No idea how many times people go back to revisit your work. How big they smile when they simply think about your work. How fast their heart beats, how excited they get when they see that you posted something.

People are shy with their feedback. Sometimes it’s because they’re simply shy. Other times it’s because they assume you already know how great and talented you are. Could be both.

My point is, even if you barely have any likes or reblogs, don’t get discouraged. You have a lot of silent fans, but they are still your fans. Keep on creating. Because there is always someone out there who will love what you have made.
